As a young man there was a verse in Ecclesiastes that really intrigued me. At face value it did not appear to make much sense.  It is verse nineteen of chapter one and it says: ‘What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under sun’. Considering the advancement that has been made in science, technology and every other human en-devour, how could this be true? Surely there has to be something new under the sun, right?

Well, not really.

You see, whilst there has been major advancements in how we do things; technically, we are not doing anything new. What do I mean by this? For example a cell phone is new, but communication is not, the latest car you drive may be new, but transportation is not. So in essence, the details of how things are done may change, but ultimately we are still doing the same things that have been done since the beginning of time.

So today I am going to let you in on three secret traps of the enemy that he has been using against men of God since the beginning of time.

1- The Gold.

By gold, I am talking about money. It doesn’t matter what financial background a minister comes from, at some point in his life he will be tested in the area of finances. The temptation may be that, he needs to choose between where God is sending him verse where the money is calling him. More plainly, he will probably be tempted to help himself to the kitty or misappropriate ministry funds.

Hebrews 13:5 gives us the answer to this test. “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you”.

2- The Glory

By glory, I am talking about the area of pride. This area is a lot more subtle than the others because one cannot taste, feel or touch pride, it is a matter of the heart. And as such is much more dangerous than the other areas of testing. We all know the verses that speak about how much God hates and resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

Therefore, a minister who fails in this area will have the grace lifted from his life and will eventually fall, probably into one or both of the other areas we are discussing.

The answer to resisting pride is to remind ourselves that we function in God’s ability working in and through us, so to Him belongs all the glory and the credit for the fruit of our lives.

He is the vine and we are the branches. (John 15)

3The Girls

By girls, I am referring to the area of lust and sexual temptation. There is no doubt that at some point you will have an opportunity to sin in this area. What will make this test difficult for you is that you will be able to do it without being caught. (or so the enemy will lead you to believe) In that day, do not be deceived, your sin will find you out. You will find forgiveness if you fall, but who knows what the devastating consequences will be .

The answer to this is:

1- Don’t be alone with women who are not family.

2- Have someone, preferably a male friend, you can trust and confide in if necessary.

3- Leave your coat and Run Forest run!!!

Much Love to All!
